Abstract

Luis Millones Santa Gadea (Lima, 1940) is a prominent Peruvian academic, renowned for his studies on Andean societies and contemporary popular religiosity. Trained as a historian at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru in the 1960s, he later pursued postgraduate studies in Chile and the United States, becoming involved in anthropology and focusing on one of the research areas that has been crucial for understanding Peru's historical and cultural processes: Andean ethnohistory. His fruitful and extensive academic career, spanning over 50 years dedicated to archival research, fieldwork, university teaching, and scholarly dissemination, makes him one of the most distinguished figures in the social sciences in Peru.
