Abstract

The reconstitution of Bolivia as a Plurinational State in 2009 had significant consequences for the Bolivian nation’s imagination as pluri-nation. It also had repercussions on the national museums, which are potent spaces for negotiation. This article synthesizes the transformations in those museums that most emblematically represent the tensions between the “pluri” and the “national”: the Museo Nacional de Etnografía y Folklore, the Casa de la Libertad and the Museo de la Revolución Democrática y Cultural.
